In light of the massive deals made by the Lakers and Suns in the past week, Dallas owner Mark Cuban has picked the dice up off the table and given them a shake of his own.
The Mavs have acquired Jason Kidd from the Nets in exchange for, take a breath first…
Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, Devean George, DeSagana Diop, Maurice Ager, first round picks in 2008 and 2010, plus three million dollars cash.
There’s been talk of sending Kidd back to Dallas for weeks, but just yesterday I read something where Cuban said that a deal wasn’t likely. Obviously, something changed.
Maybe Kidd caught a glimpse of this thing recently.

“The Nets are expected to buy out Stackhouse’s contract immediately, which could enable him to re-sign with Dallas if he waits 30 days.
“I feel great. I get 30 days to rest, then I’ll be right back,” Stackhouse said. “I ain’t going nowhere.”"

I had an update to my post talking about the buyout, but WordPress did something weird and didn’t let it go through.
Stack should explore his options, because I don’t think Dallas is getting past the second round of the playoffs. Kidd or no Kidd.

“With the New Jersey Nets poised to complete a blockbuster deal to send Jason Kidd back to Dallas on Wednesday night, Mavericks reserve forward Devean George has unexpectedly exercised his right to block the trade.”
Uhhhh…….who? Also, this is a sign that some rights (ie: to block trades) have become too prevalent in sports.

How does Devean George have that option? I think when you sign a max deal the block trade should come with it, but Devean George? Seriously?
FYI, Rossy: he was a role player in the Lakers three-peat of the early 2000’s.

The more I think about this, the funnier it is to me. I picture the owners and GM’s talking, all laughing about how they’re happy the deal’s done and then Devean George’s agent is like, uh uh.
Do you think Kwame Brown is wishing he had a trade-block clause in his contract?

YES! I can access blogsketball again! Whee!!
My initial reaction to this story was “WOAH!!!” That’s all my shocked mind could muster up. I still can’t think of anything more to say about it.

I used to hat Diop, but over the last couple of years he’s grown on me. Who’d have thought in the 2001 draft that he’d be the better NBA player than Kwame?
